Thanks, DJ speakers for writing. Yes, of course with Yahoo, Intel and Microsoft calling the shots we have seen and will see more horrific changes.

Cyber education will become the new ‘Educare’ that the corporations carve out for generations. They are firmly in control of the educational terrain and will continue to do so. Britain is the model they use and I will be writing soon on Educare and the new corporate paradigm for education for it goes way beyond what we currently see as debate in this coutnry over standards.

It is about an industry, profits and using this carpet ride to assure no critical thinking can be forged as the turnover artists harvest a new economic order based on debt peonage and neo-fedualism.

Solid blog. I got a lot of very good info. I?ve been retaining an eye on this know-how for awhile. It is interesting the way it retains varying, yet some of the core components remain the same. Have you seen considerably change because Yahoo created their latest acquisition in the field?

The interesing issue is that after 20 years of this lying buffoonery, charter legilsation started in 1991, we still are arguing about its efficacy and the right wing still making the same ridiculous arguments.

It is time to abandon the studies, they do not work and are not designed to raise scores at TPS. They are all about privatization, stock market shennanigans and taking over market share of schools as the primary provider.

Hiding behind their shadow is the real goal: vouchers. Charters are a Trojan Horse

Thank you Mersetka, but the quality of instruction is tied to the ‘auality’ of the curriculum and with the curriculum laced to No Child Left Behind high stakes tests, then we know how they do it. The skill and drill all day long, keep kids tethered to the tests, require more time in schools to prepare for ‘tests’, etc. The issue is are the ‘tests’ testing thinking and of course the answer is no. The pre-formulaic curriculae of the majority of charters use corporate driven test prep, texts, skill and drill, etc. to “make the scores” and what do the scores tell us? Little, for the critical thinking is the last thing that charter schools or their privatizers want. They have little us for people who ask questions, examine assumptions, require transparency and full disclosure and critically analzye practices. They want compliant and obedient citizens and to do this they need an education of obedience training.

Your review is thorough, though you don’t talk about the real issue which is the quality of instructional practice in the ‘successful’ charter schools. How exactly do they achieve these great scores.
