Community college presidents team up with the Lumina Foundation and Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce to rapidly privatize the colleges under Obama’s 20/20 plan

Take a look at how the philanthropists like Lumina and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, among others, smuggle themselves, stealth like, into every nook and cranny of civil society.

Research recently revealed that Lumina, community college president, Superintendent-President of Long Beach City College Eloy Ortiz Oakley and the LA Chamber of Commerce had a “meet-up” to discuss the “The College Graduation Crisis”; but don’t be fooled, for these forces of educational privatization have no interest in students, wish to assure no critical thinking is taught, nor do they give a damn if students graduate college or if they ever become successful in their fields, life or work — their interest is in Wall Street and for Wall Street.   Even if every young person graduated college there would be no jobs for them as the US work force is either shipped off-shore or, more importantly, as work disappears due to cybernetics (

And of course with the ‘Massive Open Online Classes’ (Mooc’s) that Gates and his corporate buddies have for students, most students won’t ever meet their professor.  The online purveyors of ‘the end of education’ actually say it out loud, as if they are bragging. Orwell was right (

Why now?

If this all is true, and it is, then just why is the Lumina Foundation and its hand held politicians like Superintendent-President of Long Beach City College Eloy Ortiz Oakley, working overtime with the Obama administration and privatizers to assure a 60% graduation rate and implement mind-numbing ‘student learning outcomes’ designed to destroy liberal arts and assure an uneducated, uncritical generation? (

An additional note: recent investigations show Santa Monica College contributed $82,500 to a lobbying firm in D.C. (  In addition, the SMC hired lobbyist, John P McAllister who is a revolving door executive that formerly worked for congressman, Bud Shuster (R), of PA in the 112th District who himself received top support and lobbying from Republicans.  In fact, all of his top contributions were made to and from Republicans (ibid).

Furthermore, Congressman Bud Shuster is a well known support of privatizing of education. In fact, his votes in Congress further charter schools and the privatization of education.  They all work hand and hand with majority speaker, Eric Cantor.  A formidable researcher I know stated to me recently:

“During my time as a Dale Ride scholar I was under cover attending a fundraiser for one of the most reactionary members of the US house of representatives, and majority speaker Eric Cantor (R)” (name withheld).

Take a look at the following, which was put out by the LA Chamber of Commerce back in August of 2012.  It has yet to be vaporized from the ent.

Perhaps this explains why community colleges are being slain like dragons all over California by the running dog lackeys, the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges ( ACCJC) which labors under (WASC) Western Association of Schools and Colleges.   WASC, by the way, received $1.5 million dollars from the Lumina Foundation in 2011 (  The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation ponied up $1,000,000 to WASC as well (

From the LA Chamber of Commerce, dated Friday, 24th of August 2012:

“Join us as we   welcome the Lumina Foundation President & CEO Jamie Merisotis and Superintendent-President   of Long Beach City College Eloy Ortiz Oakley, for a thought provoking   conversation regarding the growing gap of U.S. college graduation.

Lumina Foundation   is the nation’s largest private foundation committed solely to enrolling and   graduating more students from college. Under Merisotis’ leadership, Lumina’s   goal is to ensure that by 2025 60 percent of Americans hold degrees. Oakley   is best known for implementing innovative strategies and policies that help   students succeed in college. He helped offset costs associated with his   college-based reforms by leveraging private funding granted by local business   leaders, philanthropists and foundations.

The rate of college   graduation has drastically diminished compared to other countries around the   globe. Come learn from experts about the alarming trends of college   completion and how a growing census of educational, civic and the business   community have addressed this calamity head on.

The Education &   Workforce Development Council leads business community and educator   partnerships to reform our public education and develop the 21st century   workforce to successfully compete in the global economy. In the current   economic climate, the council is focused on job recovery for today’s workers   while preparing the future workforce” (

What 21st century workforce?  The school-to-work titans are very clever; so what do they really mean?  According to economist John Williams, the, author of the Shadow Government Statistics website, the real unemployment rate for December 2012 was closer to 23 percent, not the 7.8 percent reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.  Williams argues that the federal government manipulates the reporting of key economic data for political purposes, using methodologies that tend to
mask bad news (

I enjoy hearing of the facts uncovered about our education and graduation. Now a topic that you do not hear to much that is shoved down our throat. Many majors do not require this and yet we can not graduate with out passing this coarse….Algebra! It is a coarse that is hard to master. There is an experimental coarse that is presented yet to only five colleges. two in northern California and three in southern California…. Stat Way (statistics pathway). This course by-passes algebra and allows you finish the math requirements with statistics prior to transfer to a school of higher learning. This must be investigated and cleared up. I found that some instructors do algebra but do not teach it and a lot of students do not pass the coarse. Shame.

Thank Obama for a new wave of privatization of schools and junior
