A guy who calls himself “Keith in Seattle” posted this comment on my blog:

“New numbers posted today on the Treasury Department website show the National Debt has increased by more than $3 trillion since President Obama took office.

The National Debt stood at $10.626 trillion the day Mr. Obama was inaugurated. The Bureau of Public Debt reported today that the National Debt had hit an all time high of $13.665 trillion.

The Debt increased $4.9 trillion during President Bush’s two terms. The Administration has projected the National Debt will soar in Mr. Obama’s fourth year in office to nearly $16.5-trillion in 2012. That’s more than 100 percent of the value of the nation’s economy and $5.9-trillion above what it was his first day on the job.”

There are a lot of people blaming Obama for out of controlled spending, so let’s take a look at it.

Source: U.S. Treasury.

One of the first things we have to notice is who adds to the deficit?  It clearly looks to me like it is the Republicans.  Obama has made many mistakes.  The biggest one was to keep a lot of the original Bush economic advisors.  Most of the money that Obama has spent has been to bail out the mistakes of the Bush Administration.  Another thing that Obama has done was to carry on the Bush Wars.  He stopped the Iraq hemorrhage to some degree but jacked up the funds going to Afghanistan.

As for the amount that Obama has spent, I will just say this.  He did not spend enough in the right places.  Instead of bailing out the banks, he should have bailed out the people.

Here is another picture.

The top 1% of the economic elite sucked up 75% of the economic growth  during the Bush era.  The remaining 99% were carefully instructed to blame each other for the lack of income and jobs while that 1% laughed all the way to the banks.  I have discussed the main source of their wealth in recent blogs and will not waste the space to do so at this time.

The Republicans and the Tea Partiers say they have the answers.  Just look at the pictures.  Do you really want to put these people back in charge?   Obama may not have the best answers, but he is at least headed in the right direction.

And as for the jerks that say there is no difference, go find your own soapbox.  You don’t like what I have to say?  Don’t read me every chance you get.  I hear no good ideas coming from you.  If you have some, go write your own blog.  You want to extend tax cuts for the rich, wipe out Medicare, privatize Social Security, deny money for health care and education.  You want to post your arguments.  Go ahead, I have no more time to pay to you.  The intelligent will see you for the despicable narcissists that you are.  Those who do not recognize you deserve you and the black scourge you would bring upon this land.
